ood Morning Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
A favorite verse of mine is Psalm 118:24. Every day in prayer, I remind The Lord and myself of it by putting God in remembrance of the covenant I have with Him through Jesus Christ. I know, remind The Lord. Most people would say we don’t need to remind the Lord of His Word since He is The Author of It. But, if I were not to remind The Lord, I would be breaking one of His commandments.
Isaiah 43:26
Put Me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.
God specifically tells me to put Him in remembrance of His Word. Why? He is working so hard to help me be a success, by His Word, in this earth. He is working so hard to get me to say His Word, in faith, in this earth. Of course, God never forgets His Word. Do you? Do you forget His Word when the storms come in your life? Do you forget His Word when everything is going great? God, our Father, is commanding us to decree His Word to Him so He can come together in agreement with us and bring about God’s intended end for you and me in the circumstance, situation, or event. God’s intended end (Jeremiah 29:11) is only “good gifts and perfect gifts” for you and me (James 1:17). “Mayest be justified” is us receiving everything Jesus purchased for us as our salvation package of benefits: healing, wholeness, prosperity, protection, deliverance, loving kindness, tender mercies, The Word – in this earth. You don’t have to worry about this in Heaven. You need this here and now.
Going back to Psalm 118:24, I did a study of the verse at the prompting of The Holy Spirit. And, as usual, there is SO MUCH MORE to the verse than meets the eye. It’s so easy to just read over it and move on to the next verse with only a superficial understanding of what our Father is really trying to get through to us.
Psalm 118:24
This is the day which The LORD hath made; we will rejoice [be glad and joyful] and be glad in it.
In Strongs, “the day” is defined as a holy day like the Sabbath. The Sabbath is known as “The Lord’s Day” or “The Day of Rest.” It is patterned after the seventh day of creation in Genesis One. God finished His works, it was complete. There was nothing more to do. Everything was provided for all eternity.
When is “the day?” Yes, today, and tomorrow, and the day after, and so on. It is every single day we awake in this earth. Our Father God is telling us that every single day of our lives in this earth is The Holy Day or The Sabbath Day. So, what is the big deal about “the day?”
Jesus is speaking in the synagogue of Nazareth, the very small city in which He was raised. In Luke 4:18-19, we find Jesus reading from the Book of Isaiah 61:1-2. Jesus is reading what Isaiah prophesized about Jesus 700 years before Jesus was born into the earth. It is known as Jesus’ mission statement for His ministry. Of particular note to what Jesus read is found in Luke 4:19.
Luke 4:18-19
18 The Spirit of The Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach The Gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of The Lord.
Luke 4:19, “the acceptable year of The Lord” refers to the Jubilee. If you remember, the Jubilee is spelled out in the Book of Leviticus, chapter 25. It occurs every 50th year. During the Year of Jubilee, “everyone was released from indebtedness (Leviticus 25:23-38) and all types of bondage (vv. 39-55). All prisoners and captives were set free, all slaves were released, all debts were forgiven, and all property was returned to its original owners. In addition, all labor was to cease for one year, and those bound by labor contracts were released from them. One of the benefits of the Jubilee was both the land and the people were able to rest.” It was a glorious time for the children of God and brought about much praise, thanksgiving, and glorifying of God.
“The day” in Psalm 118:24 is “the acceptable year of The Lord” of Luke 4:19. Through Jesus, EVERY DAY, read “the day,” is a Jubilee Day. Every day is a day of freedom, forgiveness, restoration, abundance, and overflow Spiritually, physically, and materially. This is why David says, “we will rejoice and be glad in it.” What a glorious reason to rejoice and be glad, praise God!!! Thank you so much Blessed Father!! Every day, “the day,” is Jubilee in Jesus Christ. We don’t have to wait 50 years to experience Jubilee. Through Jesus Christ we can experience Jubilee every single moment of every single day of our time in this earth. In fact, The Holy Spirit thr0ugh Paul writes about this in Hebrews 4. In Christ we have “the day” of rest, of Jubilee.
God has provided us every single thing we need to be victorious in this earth in every aspect of our family’s and our lives. We have to continually fill ourselves with The Word of God, meditate upon it until it become faith in us, and decree and receive all of God’s promises for us through Jesus Christ. This is what Paul speaks of in Hebrews 4:11.
Hebrews 4:10-11
10 For he that is entered into His [Jesus} rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His.
11 Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Notice in verse 11, it says we have to “labor” to enter in the rest Jesus has for us through His finished works. That labor means renewing our minds from this world’s system and wisdom to God’s system and wisdom. We have to diligently (Hebrews 11:6) seek after The Word and meditate on it (Joshua 1:8) until we, through faith, turn it ALL over to God and enter into His precious and holy rest. When we are able to do this, we will see The Blessing of God do incredible things in our lives and the lives of our family.
My family and I stand as a testimony to the goodness and faithfulness of God. God has blessed us tremendously Spiritually, physically, financially, and materially. Have we arrived yet? Not by any means. But we are well underway. And as Joshua said in Joshua 24:15, “….but as for me and my house, we will serve The Lord.” God is faithful, even when we are not. It is through the finished works of Jesus Christ that we have standing with God. Trust in The Lord and have faith in Jesus’s faith that every single promise of God can and will be fulfilled in yours and your family’s lives – no matter how things might be or appear today. God is faithful. And you have a covenant with Him through Jesus Christ.
Walk mightily with the heart of The Lamb and the attitude of The Lion.
In Christ,
Larry
