Is Your Ministering Spirit Covered in Cobwebs?

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

We are told in Hebrews 4:16 to come boldly unto the throne of Grace to obtain mercy and find Grace to help in the time of need.

Hebrews 4;16

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find Grace to help in time of need.

“Us” is Jesus Christ and you.  We have no standing before God if Jesus is not with us.  And if we are Believers and have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and King, we have Jesus in us – the Spirit in us.  When we approach the throne of Grace (remember, Grace is a person – Jesus Christ), we can come boldly because we are not resting in our works – which we are told is the law in Philippians 3:9.  Instead, we are resting in the finished redemptive works of Jesus Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.  In fact, if we don’t come boldly, we have already broken a Spiritual law.  It is a commandment of God to come boldly to His throne.  His Words, not mine.  Don’t expect our prayers or supplications to be answered if we don’t come boldly.  By not coming boldly, we are the “doubleminded man” of James 1:8.  What does God say about a “doubleminded” man or woman?  James 1:7 makes it very clear:  “For let not that man think he shall receive any thing of the Lord.”

Now, we know we are to come boldly to the throne of Grace.  What are we to say?  The Holy Spirit through Paul makes it clear in Philippians 4:6-8.

Philippians 4:6-8

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Verse 8 tells us we are to come before the throne of Grace with Jesus Christ and declare unto God whatsoever things:

  • are true
  • are honest
  • are just
  • are pure
  • are lovely
  • are of a good report

The Holy Spirit goes on to say in verse 8 whatsoever things are of the power of God (virtue) and whatsoever things are of praise to God, THINK on these things.  When you look over the list above, what ONE thing meets all of these criteria?  Yes, The Word of God.  God wants to hear you proclaim His Word in faith to Him.

Isaiah 43:26

Put Me [God] in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

There is not one place in Scripture where The Holy Spirit instructs us to think on our problems, our sicknesses, our financial struggles, our wayward children, our crises, our mountains, our afflictions, our bad upbringing, our persecutions, etc.  Our Father, God, is interested in one thing and one thing only:  His Word declared in faith by us.  His Word, decreed by God before the foundation of the world, provided for us a Word solution for EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM we encounter in life on this earth.  Isaiah 43:26, above, is God instructing us to make a declaration of His Word so we may be justified.  Justified means “just as Christ is.”  I John 4:17 tells us in the second part of the verse, “because as He, Jesus, is, so are we in this world.”  God is making clear throughout His Word we are joint heirs with Jesus Christ (Roman 8:17), and we are to be like Jesus, to think like Jesus, to speak like Jesus, and to have like Jesus – IN THIS WORLD.  You don’t need it once you get to Heaven.  If all of this weren’t true, then God has lied in II Corinthians 2:14.  We know God cannot lie (Titus 1:2).  Therefore, who’s the liar?  Those who don’t believe or want to find excuses.

II Corinthians 2:14

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour [sweet smell or aroma] of His knowledge by us in every place.

Our Caleb’s Promise study group is in the process of completing Dr. Bill Winston’s Book, “Revelation of Royalty.”  In his book, The Holy Spirit led Dr. Winston to write The Truth about many Believers’ prayer life.  I’d like to quote some of it.  “I kept praying according to the answer, not the problem.  God deals only with answers.  Some people come before God and fill the air with their problems.  God knows the problems.  He never told us to pray about what is wrong in our lives.  He told us in Mark 11:24 to pray for our desires and when we pray to believe that we receive the things we desire, and we shall have them.  The idea is to keep the answer [The Word of God] before you in prayer – because focusing on the answer brings faith.  I learned again and again to respond to every situation with The Word of God.  Why?  Because God’s Word is the all-controlling factor in every situation.  When you pray the problem, you establish and embed the wrong things in your heart.  You end up thinking about your troubles and talking about them to yourself and others.  God does not respond to these types of prayers-but demons sure do.”

In closing, let’s examine what we believe, what we say, and what we pray.  God’s Word makes it clear He is interested in only one thing – His Word being spoken in faith and fulfilled.  In fact, even His angels won’t move until they hear God’s Word spoken in faith by a Believer.

Psalm 103:20

Bless the LORD, ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His Word.

Notice the angels of God, who are sent to be ministering, or serving spirits, to us, as Believers (Hebrews 1:14), will only hearken, or react to, the voice of God’s Word.  This Scripture, and others, tells us God’s Word has a voice.  When we, as Believers, decree God’s Word in faith, the angels hear God’s voice, and they snap to attention and go forth to carry out that statement of faith by the Believer.  Let’s hope our angel(s) aren’t covered in cobwebs.
