Satan is After Your Robe of Royalty

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I pray you will receive the grace and peace of Almighty God which will wash over you all day and all week long as the waves of the ocean.  Never ending and never diminishing.  This is His promise to Believers.

We all remember the story of Joseph, Jacob’s son, in Genesis, where his brothers, out of jealousy and hate, sold their brother into slavery.  Two quick things we can identify that led the brothers becoming jealous and hating Joseph were:  the coat of many colors given to Joseph by Jacob and Joseph’s two dreams.  All of this is found in Genesis 37.

Genesis 37:3

Now Israel [God changed Jacob’s name to “Israel”] loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.

There is much that can be taught about this verse, but for email and time’s sake, you’ll have to study it further yourself.  The key is this coat represented the “Robe of Royalty” which God has given to every Believer in Christ Jesus.  Another great hint is the robe given the lost son, or prodigal son as many may know it, in Luke 15:22.  It is the “Robe of Royalty.”

The coat of many colors given Joseph was prophetic.  Not only would Joseph physically become a ruler of the known world, but he also is a spiritual type of Jesus Christ, the King of kings, to come.  Joseph ultimately, through God’s providence, saved not only his family, the Jews, but the Gentile world from famine.  This is what the King of kings did, also, by delivering any man or woman, Jew or Gentile, from eternal death through believing on and confessing Jesus Christ as the risen Son of God.

So, so much can be taught from the Scriptures in Genesis dealing with Joseph.  But we are going to key in on the robe, the coat of many colors.  The robe represented Joseph’s position among his brothers in the eyes of Israel [Jacob].  While he and his brothers were brothers and in the same class of people, Joseph, as Jesus does now, occupied the position of preeminence among his brothers.

Genesis 37:31-34

31 And they took Joseph’s coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;

32 And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son’s coat or no.

33 And he knew it, and said, It is my son’s coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.

34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.

Notice in the above verses the brothers took Joseph’s coat, stained it with blood, and brought it to Jacob as proof of their lie Joseph was dead.  Jacob, sadly, bought the lie.  He believed more in what he saw with his physical eyes than he did in The Word of God to him.  I’ve taught previously had Jacob received and believed Joseph’s dreams, if he had sought God for revelation, Joseph would never have had to be taken captive and into Egypt in order for God to bring deliverance from the famine to the Jews and the Gentiles.  Joseph would have done it all from Caanan and Jacob would have been a much more accomplished man for God.  Jacob comes to realize this in Genesis 47 when in verse 9 he admits to Pharoah he fell short of what his grandfather Abraham, and father Isaac had accomplished through God.  That’s another teaching.  Pharoah, representative of the world, was impressed with Jacob’s accomplishments, but Jacob knew he had fallen short of God’s plans for him.  The world may be impressed with what you’ve accomplished, but more importantly, what does God think?

As we continue to study Joseph in his captivity, running Potiphar’s estate, becoming second in the prison leadership to the warden, and becoming the leader of Egypt, subject only to the throne of Pharoah, the one thing you will NOT find is Joseph ever lamenting, crying, sniveling, curling up in the corner, quitting, losing or sacrificing his integrity in The Word of God, or speaking curses against God or against himself.  Joseph may have physically lost his coat of many colors, but spiritually the Robe of Royalty never left his heart.  Satan was after Joseph’s Robe of Royalty because he could see there was something special about Joseph when seeing how Jacob treated him, hearing the dreams spoken of by Jacob.  Satan knows God has a plan, and Satan is always trying to thwart it.  He tried to stop God by having the brothers kill Joseph.  BUT THE BLESSING OF THE LORD stopped them.  The Blessing took Joseph away from his unbelieving father and brothers into Egypt so God could prepare him for his ultimate assignment.  Joseph never allowed Satan to steal the robe from his heart.

Satan will daily try to steal the Robe of Royalty from your heart.  When you became a Believer, you received a coat of many colors, a Robe of Royalty.  As he did with Joseph, Satan will attempt to steal from you or prevent you from having the knowledge of the image and likeness of God.  God created all Believers this way according to Genesis 1:26.  Who do you see when you look in the mirror?  The physical you or the spiritual Child of the Most High God, Heir of the Most High God, and Joint-Heir with Jesus Christ, the King of kings, and Lord of lords.  When Joseph looked in the mirror, he didn’t see the slave to Potiphar, the prisoner, or the leader of the known world.  He saw a child, a servant of the Most High God, wearing a Robe of Royalty, whose path the light of God was shining brighter and brighter upon.  Joseph knew, believed, and confessed The Word of God with expectation.  Joseph completely understood The Blessing and learned how to operate it.  The same Blessing that promoted Joseph is the same Blessing upon you.  Do you know how to operate it?  Study The Word, and the Holy Spirit will reveal it to you.

Wearing the Robe of Royalty daily, you should command [decree] and expect things in faith.  Here are some verses to continue to help with our “Image Building” the Lord has commanded.

Psalm 68:19

Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

Wow!  Every single day The Lord loads us up with benefits.  I didn’t write this.  It’s God’s Word that says this.  God loads up your shopping basket every day.  But do you check out your benefits and take them with you?  Or do you just sit there and complain, cry, suffer with, suffer from, suffer lack when your benefits are right in front of you for the taking?  You know how to take them with the spoken Word of God.

Job 22:28

Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

Decree The Word of God in faith.  Believe what it says in Mark 11:23-24.

Psalm 115:14

The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

See, God says it again in Psalm 115:14.  He increases you more and more spiritually, physically, financially, and materially – every day benefits.  Why?  So you can fulfill Genesis 12:2-3 and fulfill God’s commandment to be a blessing to the world!!  You are blessed to be a blessing.

Isaiah 45:11

Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and His Maker, Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons, and concerning the work of My hands command ye Me.

This verse just blows me away every time I read it.  My Father has commanded ME to command His hands.  Study the hand of God.  Once you began to understand it and understand the fact He has commanded you to command His hand, it will open up new avenues of understanding and knowledge in The Word of God.

Walk mighty in the Lord God wearing your Robe of Royalty and never forgetting Who your Father and Elder Brother and King are and who you are in Them.  You have the authority and power in Christ Jesus to stop Satan dead in his tracks and put him on the run.  Now, boldly step up and use it.  Be a Joseph.  In closing, notice what God said of Joseph when he was first delivered into Potiphar’s house.

Genesis 39:2

And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

I have to chuckle every single time I read this verse.  No matter what Satan tries to bring against and do to you, as long as you don’t lose your Robe of Royalty [the image of who you are in Christ], as long as you keep it in your heart, no matter the situation, the Lord is with you and you are and will be prosperous.  It is spoken – PERIOD!

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend in Jesus Christ,

Larry
