Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
There is no substitute for the Word of God. There is no wisdom of man or woman, no matter their pedigree, education, status, position, or achievements in this world that can substitute for the Word of God. Yet, most Believers spend more time reading everything but the Word of God. And, sadly, many Believers don’t believe all the Word of God. They cherry pick what they believe and don’t believe. As Believers, when we do this, we limit the power of God which resides in us. This may sound sacrilegious, but God has given us His power through Jesus Christ. It resides in the Holy Spirit which is in us. You can read this in Ephesians 1 and II Peter 1.
The Book of Proverbs deals much with “wisdom.” Wisdom is the “revealed Word of God.” God teaches us that if we pursue wisdom like hid treasure (Proverbs 2:4), God will reward us with the hidden mysteries of the Word. It is through the Word we have access to the power of God. Hebrews 1:3 tells us all things are upheld by the Word of His power.
Proverbs 8:17
I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
Proverbs 8:17 teaches us The Word loves them that loves Him and those that seek Him early [Hebrew = “earnestly”] shall find Him.
Hebrews 11:6 says the same thing as Proverbs 8:17:
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
If you love someone, you believe in them. Please don’t apply the world’s standard, better yet, Satan’s standard of love to what I just said. If you have perfect love for someone, you trust them completely. If they tell you something, it is always for your best and benefit. You do the same for them. God loves us perfectly. Everything He has said in His Word is for our best and benefit. God wants to promote us out of the bondage of Satan, this world’s system and way of doing things, into His freedom and His way of doing things.
Going back to Hebrews 11:6, notice it says, “….He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” How do you seek God? Through His Word? He is the Word (John 1:1). How does God reward you? Proverbs 2:6 tells us.
Proverbs 2:6
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
God rewards you with wisdom or the “revealed Word of God.” Notice God speaks knowledge and understanding. The Scriptures were written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit. They wrote knowledge and understanding. But wisdom comes directly from God to you when you earnestly, or diligently, search out a matter. When God gives you wisdom, it enters your heart, not your mind. There are a lot of Believers with knowledge of God’s Word, but they don’t have the wisdom of the Word. In other words, they have a head knowledge but not a heart wisdom of God’s Word. The difference between wisdom and knowledge is “faith.” Notice in Hebrews 11:6, the Holy Spirit through Paul tells us “without faith it is impossible to please God.”
Proverbs 2:10
When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
How do we get from head knowledge to heart wisdom? We must develop our faith in the Word of God for the matter we are wrestling with or believing to come to pass. Romans 10:17 tells us plainly that “faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” We must hear OURSELVES speak the Word of God to ourself over and over. “Hearing” means actively and routinely occurring. Not “occurred.” Joshua 1:8 is the Law of Confession. No, not the wayward doctrine of confessing your sins to another human. The meditation and confessing of God’s Word to Him about your matter or what you are believing. The Law of Confession comes with a promise. If you do it, “…then you shall make your way prosperous and then you shall have good success.”
When we practice Proverbs 8:17, loving the Word of God and seeking earnestly after it, Proverbs 8:18-21 occurs:
Proverbs 8:18-21
18 Riches and honor are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.
19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.
20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.
What awesome promises from our Heavenly Father that resides in us as Believers. Notice verse 21. If you really want to have some fun studying, take verse 21 and look up the following words in the Hebrew: “inherit,” “substance,” “will fill,” and “treasures.” If you believe you must wait until you reach Heaven to receive substance and treasures, your doctrine is going to take a beating. How can we ever fulfill Genesis 12:2-3 if we must wait to get to Heaven? Your words are everything and will get you anything – good or bad.
Have a wonderful day and week in Christ.
