Someone is Knocking at the Door – Part II

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ Jesus,

We continue our “Someone is Knocking at the Door” series with Part II of the message.  We’re focused on Matthew 7:7-8 where Jesus instructs us to “ask, seek, and knock” as part of our daily operation in The Kingdom of God.  No different than “binding and loosing” and “agreement” of Matthew 16:19 and Matthew 18:18-19, Matthew 7:7-8 presents us a valuable command that is given us by The Word, Jesus Christ, to enable us to live victoriously and seek to “always triumph in Christ Jesus” every day of our time on this earth.  If Jesus said It, then It is possible.

I want us to go deeper in our understanding of exactly what we are asking for, what we are seeking, and why we are knocking according to The Scriptures.  Let’s review Matthew 7:7-8 again.

Matthew 7:7–8

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

To understand what we are asking, seeking, and knocking for, we need to look at the broader context of Scripture and how these verbs are used Spiritually:

1. What Are We Asking For?

In the immediate context of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus is teaching about dependence on God.  Asking refers to prayer – a childlike request to The Father – or a decree – a command given by the Believer, based on The Word and Promises of God.

We are asking for:

Wisdom (James 1:5)

The Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13)

Daily provision (Matthew 6:11)

Forgiveness (Matthew 6:12)

Kingdom realities (Matthew 6:33)

Decreed outcomes based on The Word of God (Job 22:28; Psalm 119:13; Psalm 145:18)

Asking is the beginning of faith—recognizing our need and turning to God as The Source whether it is asking or decreeing.

2. What Are We Seeking?

Seeking implies pursuit—a deeper desire to find Truth, righteousness, and God’s will.

We are seeking:

The Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33)

God’s presence (Psalm 27:8)

Understanding and revelation (Proverbs 2:3–5)

God’s face and favor (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Seeking is active—it involves searching The Scriptures, meditating, and aligning our hearts with God’s purposes.

3. Why Are We Knocking?

Knocking suggests persistence and access—we are approaching a door that leads to deeper relationship or opportunity.

We are knocking for:

Entrance into The Kingdom (Luke 13:24–25)

Revelation and intimacy with Christ (Revelation 3:20)

Open doors of ministry or understanding (Colossians 4:3)

Knocking is about perseverance—it’s the final step of faith that expects God to open what was previously closed because of ignorance or rebellion.

Now, we want to go to the next level by connecting Matthew 7:7-8 with covenant promises, Spiritual authority, and prosperity.  In other words, how do we use Matthew 7:7-8 to bring God’s Word to pass in our daily and future lives?

1. Covenant Promises and Asking

In a covenant relationship, asking is not begging—it’s petitioning based on legal rights established by the blood of Jesus.

John 15:7

“If ye abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”

1 John 5:14–15

14 And this is the confidence that we have in Him [God], that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us:

15 And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.

Asking according to His will guarantees answers.  We ask because we are a son, not a servant. We have access to The Father’s resources through Christ.  Asking activates covenant provision—healing, wisdom, favor, protection, deliverance, and prosperity.

2. Seeking and Spiritual Authority

Seeking is tied to Spiritual hunger and revelation knowledge.  We seek to understand our identity, authority, and inheritance.

Proverbs 25:2

“It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings [this is Believers] is to search out a matter.”

Matthew 6:33

“But seek ye first The Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Seeking the Kingdom means pursuing its government, laws, and economy.  Seeking reveals our legal standing in the Spirit realm.  We discover how to operate in dominion, speak with authority, and enforce covenant rights.  This is where we learn to bind and loose, come together in agreement, ask-seek-and knock, decree a thing, and walk in power.

3. Knocking and Prosperity Access

Knocking is about entering doors that were previously closed—whether Spiritual, financial, or relational and whether through ignorance of The Word or rebellion against The Word.

Revelation 3:8

“I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My Word, and hast not denied My Name.”

Deuteronomy 28:12

“The LORD shall open unto thee His good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in His season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.”

God opens His good treasure, the Heavens, to bless the work of our hands.  Knocking is faith in action.  We knock by sowing, speaking, and stepping out.  Doors of business, ministry, real estate, and influence open when we persist in faith.  Prosperity is not just money—it’s access, opportunity, and overflow.  It is the ability to fulfill God’s commandment to be a blessing to the families of the earth (Genesis 12:2-3).

Just when we think we’ve exhausted the study of the two verses, we learn that God’s Word is multi-layered, multi-dimensional.  I firmly believe God’s Word will continually be revealed to us in deeper revelation throughout all eternity.

Now, we’re going to look at Matthew 7:7-8 and how these two verses connect directly to The Kingdom economy.  God’s economy operates by Spiritual laws, covenant principles, and faith-based transactions.  This is completely opposite of satan’s world system of scarcity and toil – demand and supply.

What is The Kingdom Economy?

The Kingdom economy is the divine system of provision, multiplication, and stewardship governed by Spiritual laws.  It is based on:

Seedtime and harvest (Genesis 8:22)

Tithes and offerings (Malachi 3:10, Hebrews 7:8)

Sowing and reaping (Galatians 6:7-9)

Faith and obedience (Deuteronomy 28:1-14)

Stewardship and dominion (Matthew 25:14–30)

It’s not just about money, as the religious mindset thinks.  It’s about accessing Heaven’s resources to fulfill God’s purpose on earth.

How Matthew 7:7–8 Aligns with Kingdom Economy

1. Ask → Legal Petition for Provision

In The Kingdom, asking is not begging—it’s petitioning The King based on covenant rights.  We ask for wisdom to steward wealth, favor in business, strategic insight, and divine connections.

Philippians 4:19

“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

In The Kingdom, asking and/or decreeing activates Heaven’s supply chain.  We’re not drawing from earth’s economy but from God’s abundance.  Notice in Philippians 4:19, The Holy Spirit says through Paul that God will supply how much?  ALL YOUR NEED.  From where?  From His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.  God’s riches, both Spiritual and material, are eternal, which means they are infinite.  God, our Father, is GENEROUS.  Read The Scriptures and quit listening to lies from satan.

2. Seek → Revelation of Economic Laws

Seeking is about understanding how The Kingdom works – the laws of increase, multiplication, and stewardship.  We are to seek revelation on sowing and reaping, divine strategies, and how to operate in the overflow.

Proverbs 8:17–21

17 I love them that love Me [God and wisdom]; and those that seek Me early shall find Me.

18 Riches and honour are with Me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and My revenue than choice silver.

20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:

21 That I may cause those that love Me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

Proverbs 8:17-21 says those that seek God and His wisdom will find durable riches and righteousness.  In other words, one will be both Spiritually and materially blessed – in this earth, in this life.  Seeking unlocks economic mysteries—how to prosper God’s way, not the world’s way.

3. Knock → Access to Economic Doors

Knocking is faith in action—we step out, invest, build, and expect doors to open.  We knock by starting ventures, buying properties, sowing sacrificially, and speaking favor.

Isaiah 45:2–3

2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, The LORD, which call thee by thy name, am The God of Israel.

Isaiah 45:2-3 promises God will open doors and give hidden treasures of the unrighteous, the unsaved, of the sinner to the righteous – if the Believer believes in his heart and confesses or decrees it with his mouth.  Knocking opens territories of influence, streams of income, and generational wealth.

Isaiah 45:2-3 are part of a prophetic word to Cyrus, a Gentile king chosen by God to fulfill God’s purposes.  Spiritually, it reveals a powerful principle in The Kingdom economy—that God has wealth, wisdom, and resources stored in places not visible to the natural eye for His children.

Next week’s message, Part III in this series, will further examine Isaiah 45:2-3 and the hidden treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places.  God’s Word and His Kingdom Laws are incredibly powerful.  There is not one situation that cannot be overcome with understanding and faith in operating God’s Spiritual laws according to His Kingdom’s government.

“We do not come to beg for victory but to enforce the victory already won.”

Much love in Christ Jesus,

Larry
