Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Last week we started a series of messages on The Kingdom of God, and we, according to God’s Word, defined “what” The Kingdom of God is and “where” The Kingdom of God is located. This message will address “when” The Kingdom of God was created and “why” The Kingdom is so important to us.
We learned last week Jesus’ primary mission in this earth, in addition to The Passion, was to re-introduce The Kingdom of God to man and to begin the introduction of the New Covenant to man. Now, there are many that allege The Kingdom of God started with Jesus Christ in the earth or with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They maintain it is a “New Covenant” event. Let me assure you, and you can read it yourself, The Kingdom of God has existed as long as God has existed, which means forever. The words, “The Kingdom of God,” is not specifically mentioned in the Old Testament or Old Covenant. However, for something to qualify as a kingdom, it must have a have a king, it must have laws, and it must have subjects whom the king rules. God has ruled over His Heavenly creation with Spiritual laws in place forever. These Spiritual laws are immutable [do not change] and apply to ALL creation. God ruled the hosts of Heaven from the beginning. So, there has always been a Kingdom of God.
When God created Adam and Eve in The Godhead’s image and likeness (Genesis 1:26) and blessed them (Genesis 1:28), The Kingdom of God was introduced into the earth. Adam and Eve operated the Spiritual laws by speaking The Word in faith. Faith was commonplace to them since they were created in the incorruptible image and likeness of The Godhead. They didn’t give a second thought to what they commanded. They spoke with absolute expectation of a physical manifestation. God charged them with propagating The Kingdom throughout the earth. The Garden of Eden represented the physical manifestation of God’s Kingdom in this earth. When Adam and Eve fell, God’s faith, read power, and glory departed from them. They now passed from The Blessing to the curse. From the day of the fall and forward, Adam and Eve had to make a conscious decision about everything they thought, they spoke, and they did. Why? Jesus summed it up so well in Matthew 12:37.
Matthew 12:37
For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Adam and Eve could either speak blessings [justified] or curses [condemned] over themselves by their words. And their words were going to come from what was in their hearts as explained by Jesus in Matthew 12:35.
Matthew 12:35
A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
You can be a Believer and have evil treasure in your heart based on what you allow in and what you believe. What you believe, or listen to often, will be what comes out of your mouth, especially under the pressures of life. As Jesus said in Matthew 12:37, we have the choice to justify or to condemn ourselves with what we have to say.
“Why” is The Kingdom of God so important to us? Why did Jesus tell us in Matthew 6:33 to “seek first The Kingdom of God, and His righteousness…..?” As a Believer, The Kingdom of God represents our protection, our deliverance, our healing, and our prosperity – in this earth. The Kingdom of God has its own economy, separate from the world system or what is known as the Babylonian system. Without The Kingdom of God, a Believer can only exist in the world system, which is controlled by satan. The currency of The Kingdom of God is faith. The foundation and infrastructure of The Kingdom of God is the Spiritual laws. The Kingdom is composed of the Spiritual laws and moral and ethical commandments. The Spiritual laws operated in faith produce a blessing. Conversely, the Spiritual laws operated in fear produce the curse in our life.
A Believer who does not understand the Spiritual laws or doesn’t believe what God’s Word has to say about the Spiritual laws is like a soldier in a war without any weapons. This Believer is what one would classify as a “dead man walking” in this earth. While the Believer will go to Heaven when they die, their life on this earth will be filled with so many encounters with, and needless devastation from, the curse.
Next message we’ll focus on the “how” The Kingdom works with The Word and examples.
Remember, all Believers that diligently seek after God and His Word will have “Insider Information.”
In Christ,
Larry
