Are You The Melchi Or The Zedek?

Good Morning Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

God’s Word is amazing.  There is nothing more precisely and divinely inspired than the Word of God.  If you study it, you will learn this as the Holy Spirit reveals things to you.  If you’re earnest about your desire to learn from God, the Holy Spirit will be earnest to teach you.  If I told many Believers they could read a secular book and it would deliver them fantastic results financially or with their health, they would scoop it up and read it from cover to cover.  They would hardly put it down until they had finished it, searching for the nuggets that will lead them to financial prosperity or great health.  However, as a Believer, they already possess the one book that can provide them both prosperity and supernatural health with peace and rest.  Yet, for some reason, the Word of God is the least read, the least sought after, the least revered.

If you’ve read the book of Genesis, you probably remember reading about a king and priest of God Most High named Melchizedek that met Abram after Abram rescued his nephew Lot and his family from a mighty army of tens of thousands with 318 servants of Abram’s household which he had trained.  I’m not going to spend time on this, but the fact Abram could defeat such a huge army with so few and do it at night is a miracle.  It represents the same power God has blessed you with as the seed of Abraham through Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:29).

Genesis 14:18-20

18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the Most High God.

19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20 And blessed be the Most High God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he [Abram] gave him [Melchizedek] tithes of all.

With the exception of Genesis 14:18-20, we don’t read about Melchizedek again until Psalms 110:4 and Hebrews Chapters 5, 6, and 7.  Let’s find out more about this strange figure called Melchizedek.  To most Believers, he is a complete mystery.

Melchizedek contains two Hebrew words, “melchi” and “zedek.”  Melchi means to “rule or reign” and zedek means “righteousness” whose root word “zadak” means “to make right” or “to justify.”  Melchi represents the duty of a king and zedek represents the duty of a priest.  So, as Genesis 14:18-20 shows us, Melchizedek is both a king and a priest.

Ok, so what significance is it that Melchizedek is both a king and a priest?  If you remember, under the Law given to Moses, the roles and duties of a king and priest could not be occupied by one and the same person.  They must remain separate.  From the House of David came kings and from the House of Aaron came priests.  Since we know the Law was given to Moses, who lived well after Abraham, we see Melchizedek was not under the Law.  He was before the Law.  What was the purpose of the Law?  To condemn us and show us we could not meet God’s standard without a perfect sacrifice for our sin and true repentance, the perfect sacrifice being Jesus Christ.

Now, was Jesus born of both the House of David and the House of Aaron?  No, He was not.  So how does He qualify to be our King and our High Priest?  Let’s look back at Genesis 14;18-20.  What did Melchizedek do to Abram in these verses?  Yes, he blessed Abram as the possessor of heaven and earth.  When a blessing is given, the one being blessed receives the heritage of him who is blessing.  Since Melchizedek is both a king and a high priest, and he blesssed Abram, from Abraham would come the House of David, the “melchi” and the House of Aaron, the “zedek.”

Ok, I know, it still isn’t adding up yet, is it?  Jesus was born of the House of David, not the House of Aaron.  So, we can see how Jesus can be the King, but not the Priest.  Do you remember who lived at the same time as Jesus and was born of the House of Aaron?  Yes, John the Baptist.  Do you remember when Jesus came to the Jordan River and was baptized and blessed by John the Baptist?  Jesus, the Melchi, was blessed by John the Baptist, the zedek,  The Melchi received back the zedek and became the Melchi-Zedek, the Priestly King and the Royal Priest (Isaiah 53:11).  At the Jordan River, when John the Baptist blessed Jesus, it was the end of the House of Aaron as priests.  God, in His divine plan, had reunited in The Messiah, the House of David, kings, and the House of Aaron, priests.  This is why it says in Hebrews 5:8-10 that Jesus is “Called of God an High Priest after the order of Melchisedec.”

Hebrews 5:8-10

8 Though He [Jesus] were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered;

9 And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him;

10 Called of God an High Priest after the order of Melchisedec.

We see God’s plan was to bless us as Melchisedek did to Abraham.  Because man rejected God’s Word and grew more and more evil, the Law came into effect.  The Law is to condemn, to lead us back to God.  This is what the Levitical Priests did.  Then came Jesus, the Messiah, who united the Kingship and Priestship in Himself.  Now, all we receive from God is blessings through Jesus – no condemnation as it tells us in Romans 8:1.

What does this mean for us?  If we will enter the rest (Hebrews 4:10-11) of Jesus Christ, we will walk in the Melchi and the Zedek, the Melchi-Zedek, every day of our lives.  Entering His rest means you are fully persuaded what God has said in His Word is absolute Truth.  And, you will walk each day with the same spiritual heart, the same physical health, the same financial and material prosperity, and the same spiritual authority and power as Jesus.

I John 4:17

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He [Jesus] is, so are we in this world.

What more needs to be said?  What more proving or Truth do you require?  As He is RIGHT NOW, so are YOU in this world, NOW.  Believe it and watch your world change.  You, too, are a king and a priest.

Revelation 1:6

And hath made us [you and me] kings and priests unto God and his Father; to Him [Jesus] be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Oh yeah, Melchizedek was the pre-incarnate Jesus.  Hebrews 7:2 makes this perfectly clear if you have a King James Version where the “King of righteousness,” “King of Salem,” and “King of peace” is a capitalized “K” for King of kings.  Most other versions have corrupted this Scripture by removing the capitalization.  “King of kings” always only refers to Jesus the Christ.

I pray you gain enlightenment in your heart from The Word and the wonderful, hidden mysteries of God’s Word are revealed to you which will greatly increase your faith and the love, peace, and joy in your walk with Him.

In Christ,

Larry
