Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ Jesus,
Last week we learned about Melchizedek, the King and High Priest of The Lord God that appeared in Genesis 14:18-20, and then just seems to disappear other than a reference in Psalm 110:4 and references in Hebrews Chapters 5-7. We learned in Hebrews that Jesus is now The Great High Priest after the Order of Melchizedek. We also learned that we, as Believers, are kings and priests after the Order of Melchizedek, serving our King and Great High Priest, Jesus Christ. We also examined our role as a king in the Order of Melchizedek. The dual identity of king and priest empowers us to rule and minister in the Spiritual realm. This Spiritual realm is The Kingdom of God. This message will look at our role as priests in the Order of Melchizedek.
Exercising Priestly Authority in The Kingdom of God
1. Understand Our Identity as a Priest
Our priestly authority begins with knowing our Spiritual position in Christ.
• 1 Peter 2:9 – “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him Who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light:”
• Revelation 5:10 – “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”
We are not just permitted to approach God — we are authorized to minister before Him and represent others in prayer and Spiritual matters.
2. Minister to God First
Priests minister to God before they minister for God. This includes worship, thanksgiving, and offering Spiritual sacrifices.
• Psalm 141:2 – “Let my prayer be set forth before Thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.”
• Hebrews 13:15 – “By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His Name.”
How to Minister to God:
• Spend time in worship and adoration.
• Offer thanksgiving and praise daily.
• Present our bodies as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1).
• Keep our hearts pure and our motives aligned with His will.
3. Intercede for Others
Priests stand in the gap between God and people. Intercession is a powerful priestly function.
• Hebrews 7:25 – “Wherefore He [Jesus] is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.”
• Ezekiel 22:30 – “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”
How to Intercede:
• Pray for others with compassion and Spiritual insight.
• Use Scripture as the foundation for our petitions.
• Stand against spiritual attacks on behalf of others.
• Declare God’s promises over families, churches, and nations.
4. Offer Spiritual Sacrifices
Priests offer sacrifices — not of animals, but of Spiritual acts that please God.
• 1 Peter 2:5 – “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a Spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up Spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”
Examples of Spiritual Sacrifices:
• Praise and worship.
• Acts of obedience.
• Financial giving (Philippians 4:18).
• Serving others in love.
5. Maintain Holiness and Purity
Priests must walk in holiness to maintain Spiritual authority and access.
• Leviticus 10:3 – “Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh Me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.”
• 2 Corinthians 7:1 – “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit [soul], perfecting holiness in the fear [reverential trust in God’s Word] of God.”
How to Walk in Holiness:
• Guard our heart and speech (Psalm 141:3).
• Repent quickly and stay spiritually clean.
• Avoid compromise and worldly entanglements.
• Stay filled with The Word and Spirit.
6. Discern and Declare God’s Will
Priests receive revelation and insight from God and declare it to others.
• Malachi 2:7 – “For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of The LORD of Hosts.”
• John 16:13 – “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all Truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.”
How to Operate in Discernment:
• Spend time in The Word and prayer.
• Listen for The Holy Spirit’s voice.
• Speak Truth with love and clarity.
• Help others understand God’s will and direction.
7. Bless Others in The Name of The Lord
Priests are authorized to bless others Spiritually.
• Numbers 6:23–27 – “23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, 24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. 27 And they shall put My Name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.”
How to Bless Others:
• Speak blessings over people, families, and communities.
• Declare peace, provision, healing, and favor.
• Use our priestly authority to release God’s goodness.
Practical Steps to Exercise Priestly Authority
1. Daily Worship — Minister to God with praise and thanksgiving.
2. Intercession — Pray for others with Scripture-based petitions.
3. Spiritual Cleanliness — Walk in holiness and guard our hearts.
4. Sacrificial Living — Offer our time, resources, and obedience.
5. Discernment — Seek and speak God’s will with clarity.
6. Blessing Others — Release Spiritual blessings through our words.
In closing, exercising priestly authority involves ministering to God, interceding for others, and operating in Spiritual intimacy and discernment. As priests after the Order of Melchizedek, we have direct access to God and the responsibility to represent both Heaven and earth in Spiritual matters.
I also want to welcome the many, many Sisters and Brothers in Christ in the United States and around the world who have subscribed to the Caleb’s Promise Weekly Message and accessed the nearly nine years of messages and resource materials. Please feel free to take and use the messages and materials to teach yourself and to teach others. We are in the Third Great Awakening. It has already begun, and we will hear and see amazing miracles and supernatural movements and interventions by God, The Lord of Hosts, and His Son, Jesus Christ. How exciting to be alive in this time and to be a part of The Kingdom of God as it advances throughout the world.
Much love in Christ Jesus,
Larry
