Good Afternoon Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
We serve an awesome and mighty King in Jesus Christ. A King who owns everything in all creation. A King who is deeply in love with His bride, the Church. A King who provided everything for His bride through Himself (spiritual) and through being the Seed of Abraham (material and physical). We are given ALL things in and through Christ.
II Peter 1:2-3
2Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3According as His power hath given unto us ALL THINGS that pertain unto life [physical, material] and godliness [spiritual], through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Great knowledge and understanding is found in these two verses. In verse 2, grace [unmerited, undeserved, unearned favor] and peace [shalom – wholeness, completeness, health, prosperity, safety, peace] will be multiplied unto you. How is grace and peace multiplied to you? Through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. Where is knowledge, understanding, wisdom, and instruction found? In one place and one place ONLY – the Word of the Almighty God.
What is the “power” spoken of in verse 3? It is the Greek word, “dunamai” which means “miraculous force, power, might, strength.” It is the anointing given by God to Jesus Christ.
Acts 10:38
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.
The same anointing given by God to Jesus Christ is in you as a Believer. Your spirit is the fulness of the Godhead.
Colossians 2:9-10
9For in Him [Christ] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power:
1 John 2:20
But ye [Believer] have an function [anointing] from the Holy One [Holy Spirit], and ye know all things.
The anointing, or “divine power” as written in II Peter 1:3, hath, or has, given unto you ALL THINGS. How much is “all things?” Just what it say, “ALL THINGS.” Is there anything that is not a “thing?” No. So, all things have been given to you that pertain unto health, prosperity, and spirit. Sounds just like III John 2 doesn’t it? Of course, because it is God’s will for all of His Children – to be in health and prosper even as their soul prospers.
There is a kicker to the promises of II Peter 1:2-3. Until you get into the Word of God – AND I MEAN GET INTO THE WORD – you’re not going to experience God’s best for you. He only rewards those that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). You’re not going to experience great health, long life, length of days. You’re not going to experience wealth and riches, leaving a material and spiritual inheritance to your children and grandchildren, being a blessing to the poor, the orphaned, the widowed, the downtrodden, the Brothers and Sisters in Christ, fund the many ministries carrying the full Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world, building schools, repairing blighted neighborhoods, rebuilding inner cities, fulfilling the covenant God has with you as the seed of Abraham to bless others and the families of the earth.
A perfect example of the above as a teaching is in Luke 10:38-42 where Jesus visits with Mary and Martha. Mary sits at the feet of Jesus, THE WORD, to hear the Word, while Martha is like the rest of the Church – busy with things that just don’t matter to God one bit. Why? Because if the WORD is not your first priority, God is NOT honored by anything else you do for Him or in His name. Notice what Jesus, God in the flesh, had to say to Martha when she complained that Mary was not helping her prepare the meal and set the table.
Luke 10:41-42
41And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
What is the “one thing?” Yes, THE WORD – the good part!!!!! When you make studying, eating, consuming, trusting and loving the Word of God as your priority, you will experience the divine power spoken of in II Peter 1:3 and the impact of it on your walk with Christ, your health, your finances, your relationships, your business, your emotions, your job, your vision, your expectations, etc.
A wonderful example of a man who understood the “one thing” was George Washington Carver, a Brother in Christ who believed God’s whole, unadulterated Word. George Washington Carver was born a slave in 1861 in Missouri. George came to know Jesus Christ as his Savior at 12 years old. George had many struggles growing up, which I won’t speak to here. However, he became a professor at Tuskegee Institute, in Tuskegee, Alabama in the late 1890s. He founded the school of agriculture. The point I want to make of this is George believed and loved his Heavenly Father’s Word. He studied it and studied it. God rewarded him with over 300 uses for the peanut and over 200 uses for the sweet potato and several patents. In the late 1890’s and early 1900’s, George Washington Carver produced MORE millionaires than ALL of the Ivy League schools combined. There is SO much more I could say about this dear Brother in Christ, but the point is just what Jesus said to Martha – only one thing is needful to impact this earth through the divine power of Christ – THE WORD. With knowledge and understanding of the Word comes wisdom. Through this wisdom, you now have the power to do anything – anything that Christ did during His earthly ministry and even more.
John 14:12
Verily, verily [truly] I say unto you, he that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My Father.
You’re called to perform the very same works Jesus did while on earth and even greater works. A moment of favor with God is worth years of labor. Let the world and man’s wisdom labor. I choose the Word and the promises of it to me as the Son of God, the seed of Abraham, and the joint-heir with my King, Jesus Christ. I see the WORD bear itself out in my life every single day. I pray you are experiencing the very best of our Father every day.
In Christ,
Larry
