Good Morning All,

Genesis 39 is the recount of Joseph being sold to Potiphar as a servant in Potiphar’s home, being falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife, and Joseph being cast into prison based on the accusation.  Joseph is a “shadow” or “type” of Jesus Christ.  Everything that happens to Joseph also happens to Jesus Christ.

In Caleb’s Promise we’ve learned that today’s Believers are given the very same Promise God gave to Abraham in Genesis 12:2-3 (Galatians 3:14, 16, 29).  In this Promise is the Blessing.  From the Blessing comes the blessings of Deuteronomy 28:1-12 and many others throughout God’s Word.  Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Israel) all understood and walked in the Promise and the Blessing of the Promise.  Joseph, the firstborn of Jacob (not physically, but spiritually), also well understood the Promise.

We can see the Promise and the Blessing of the Promise at work in Genesis 39:1-6, 21-23.  Even though Joseph, in the natural, was not in the best of positions, the Promise and the Blessing of the Promise promoted him in every situation as you can read.  When reading this a few week’s back, God told me to remove Potiphar’s name and replace it with my name and to remove Joseph’s name and replace it with Jesus’ name.

Genesis 39:2-6

2 And the LORD was with Jesus, and He was a prosperous man; and He was in the Spirit of His joint heir Larry.

3 And Larry saw that the LORD was with Jesus, and that the LORD made all that He did to prosper in His hand.

4 And Jesus found grace in Larry’s sight, and He served him: and Larry made Him overseer over his house, and all that Larry had he put into His hand.

5 And it came to pass from the time that Larry had made Jesus overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed Larry’s house for Jesus’ sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that Larry had in the house, and in the field.

6 And Larry left all that he had in Jesus’ hand; and he knew not what he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Jesus was a goodly person and well favored.

Amazing!  In the previous covenant, man served God.   In the new covenant, through Jesus Christ, God serves man.  If we, through faith, turn  everything over to Jesus and allow Him to be the overseer of our lives, you will NOT TOIL (labor) in any area of your life – relationships, health, business, finances, ministry, family, etc.  Sweat and the toil or labor associated with it is of the curse ushered in by sin.  Jesus destroyed the curse at the Cross.  We no longer have to be bound by and operate under the curse.  We are freed from it – the law of liberty which Paul speaks of in the new covenant.  Sadly, many Believers, because of a lack of faith, continue to operate under and be entrapped by the curse.  There is a reason God made it a law the Priests wear linen garments.  They were NOT to sweat.  Sweat is of the curse.  Adam and Eve, prior to the fall, didn’t even perspire.  They, through faith, decreed everything.  Faith is your servant.  It is to work for you.  Faith is the currency of Heaven.  Faith is the highest form of praise to God.  Faith tells God you trust Him completely.  This is why Hebrews 11:6 says it is impossible to please God without faith.  And, without faith, you’ll never experience the Promise or the Blessing and blessings of the Promise, even though you are a Believer.

The fact we’re not to toil or labor is made clear to us in the following verses and was taught and demonstrated by Jesus in His earthly ministry.  You’ll never find an instance where Jesus toiled prior to becoming a curse for us, that the curse might be removed from us.

Proverbs 10:22

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow [toil, labor] with it.

Proverbs 10:24

The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

Blessings to all,

Larry
