Spiritual Laws – They Bless or They Cut

Good Morning Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

In the previous three messages we learned more about The Kingdom of God.  One thing we touched upon in the last message was “how” we operate in The Kingdom.  Since The Kingdom of God is a government ruled by King Jesus, we learned there are Spiritual Laws and moral and ethical commandments that govern Its operation.  Spiritual Laws are the foundation and infrastructure of The Kingdom.  We also touched on The Truth that the Spiritual Laws also work outside The Kingdom of God.  All of creation is formed and held together by God’s Spiritual Laws.  So, what is the difference between “how” the Spiritual Laws work in and outside The Kingdom of God?  Spiritual Laws within The Kingdom of God are designed to bring life and blessing.  Spiritual Laws outside The Kingdom of God bring death and the curse.  Remember what God told the Children of Israel in Deuteronomy 30:19.

Deuteronomy 30:19

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

As we can see in God’s Word, He sets forth the reward and the consequence of our thoughts, words, and actions.  Operate God’s Spiritual Laws according to His Word and reap the reward of life and blessing.  Operate God’s Spiritual Laws outside His Word and reap the consequence of death and cursing.  An unsaved person has no choice but to fall under the consequence of death and cursing.  A Believer has a choice to either reap life and blessing or to reap death and cursing.  An unsaved person has the choice to believe and confess Jesus Christ as The Son of God Who died for our sins and was resurrected and sits at the right hand of God as King of kings and Lord of lords, ruler of The Kingdom of God – or to reject Him.  Both the unsaved and the Believer always have free will to make whatever choice they desire.

Spiritual Laws, once put into motion, are going to happen no matter.  The only thing that can stop a wrongly applied Spiritual Law for a Believer is repentance.  We’ve spoken already of the Spiritual Law of The Seed, the Spiritual Law of Sowing and Reaping, and the Spiritual Law of Manifold Return.  These three Spiritual Laws work together and form the foundation for all other Spiritual Laws.  Let’s use an example.  If one sows a seed of strife, the seed will produce after its own kind – strife.  This is the Spiritual Law of The Seed.  Any fruit of the seed produced as the harvest will be strife.  This is the Spiritual Law of Sowing and Reaping.  And you will receive a many-fold return of the seed that was sown – an abundance of strife.  This is the Spiritual Law of Manifold Return.  These three Spiritual Laws work together, in concert with one another, ALL THE TIME.  This is why watching what we say is so important.  Well Larry, I just don’t believe every word you say has a reward or a consequence.  As I always say, let’s see what God’s Word has to say about this.

Psalm 89:34

My covenant will I [God]not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips.

God is not changing anything He has spoken or blood covenants He has put in place.  Once God speaks, it is forever.

Proverbs 18:21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

What a person says will either bring life and blessing or death and cursing to them.

Proverbs 18:7

A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

A “fool” is anyone, saved or unsaved, that doesn’t believe in God’s Word or portions of God’s Word.  When this person says things that are not in line with God’s Word, this is a snare or a trap for the person’s heart.  The words come back as death and cursing in a manifold return.

Psalm 141:13

Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

David absolutely knew the importance of the words he spoke.  He is asking God to put a guard over David’s mouth to keep him from speaking anything that is not in line with God’s Word.

Psalm 119:13

With my lips have I declared all the judgments of Thy mouth.

David is stating he is only going to declare or make a decree based upon what The Word of God has to say.  He won’t allow his tongue and lips to speak anything else.

Proverbs 10:19

In the multitude of words there wanteth [lacketh] not sin: but he that refraineth [controls] his lips is wise.

The “fool” spoken of earlier runs their mouth with no regard for what is being said; however, a wisdom-laden Believer controls their mouth and speaks only what God’s Word has said.

Psalm 120:2

Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

David is asking God to help him ONLY speak God’s Word and nothing else.  Anything else is “lying lips” and a “deceitful tongue.”

Proverbs 18:7

A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

We find the “fool” again running their mouth, saying anything that comes to mind with no regard for the perpetual, ever-present Spiritual Laws

Proverbs 10:32

The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness [reluctance to yield or comply; disobedience].

A Believer who understands God’s Word and Spiritual Laws, speaks only what God has said about them in His Word.  The unsaved or the ignorant, unbelieving Believer can speak with the mouth of the wicked saying what the world has to say and totally ignore God’s Word – Truth.

Psalms 17:4

Concerning the works of men, by The Word of Thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

David is telling God that he, David, avoids producing the works of men by speaking God’s Word in every situation.  By not saying what men of the world say, David is not producing their works, and satan, the destroyer, doesn’t have legal right to devour and destroy in David’s life.

Proverbs 16:32

The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

A righteous Believer, one who diligently pursues God and His Word, teaches his mouth and lips what to say from The Word of God.  He convinces his heart through meditating constantly on The Word of God.  His mouth and lips learn through the fruit of meditation.

Psalm 34:13

Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

Simply put, don’t agree with and say anything the world says.  Only speak that which God has already spoken about you and any situation you encounter.  Anything else said is evil and guile (a lie).

I Peter 3:10

For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

Another simple yet powerful Word.  If you want to wake up and walk through every day in love, joy, and peace, enjoy life, and have increase in all areas of your life, you MUST NOT speak the words of the world – not matter how smart the world thinks themselves to be.  Their words are evil, and their lips speak lies because it is not in line with God’s Word.

Proverbs 18:20

A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

A Believer prospers in all areas of their lives, every day, because of the seed of life and blessing they plant with their lips.  A Believer who walks in this manner will have a life of abundance and overflow in all areas of his life.  He will be a blessing to others.

I think we all get the point.  God has made it clear that “words” – every word – will either produce life and blessing or death and cursing.  And God is not changing regardless of one’s opinion, experiences, desires, beliefs, etc. if they are not in line with God’s Word.

We must be careful with what we say and what we pray, at all times.  Don’t accept and agree with anything the world has to say if it is not in line with God’s Word.  The all-powerful Spiritual Laws are put into motion by our words, our seed.   As Believers, only repentance for what we’ve wrongly said will stop the sword of consequence if we’ve spoken out-of-line with God’s Word.  Otherwise, we will experience the fruit of our words – good or bad.

I pray all enjoy a wonderful resurrection weekend.  Jesus is NOT on the cross.  He is risen! The cross is but a symbol of a victory already won, not one that has to continually be fought.  Jesus is The Word and in His precious all-powerful Name we declare victory in our lives by that which He has already done.

In the Grace and Name of Jesus Christ,

Larry
