Good Morning Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

This is a quick message sharing “The Name of God” with you.  I find it fascinating, as I do all of God’s Word.  It’s so amazing at how perfect it is and how it all fits together like a huge jigsaw puzzle.  When you really study God’s Word, the Old and the New Testaments, you find a common theme throughout.  The Old Testament points to the coming cross or redemption and the New Testament points back to the cross, the redemption.

God’s name is no different.  You will see the very name of God also points forward to the cross and back to the cross.  How perfect is the Word of God.

God’s name is first introduced in Genesis 2:4.

Genesis 2:4 (KJV)

These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

Genesis 2:4 (Young’s Literal Translation )

These [are] births of the heavens and of the earth in their being prepared, in the day of Jehovah God’s making earth and heavens;

The “LORD God” in the KJV and “Jehovah God” in the YLT are translated “YHWH ELOHIM” in ancient Hebrew.

Genesis 4:26 (KJV)

And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

Again, God’s Word tells us “then began men to call upon the name of YHWH.”

Over time, vowels were added to “YHWH” to produce the spelling “Jehovah,” “Yehovah,” or “Yahweh.”

“YHWH” is what is known as the “tetragrammaton.”  The letters represent a word.  You may hear it referred to as Paleo Hebrew – an ancient form.  ‘YHWH” expresses the name for ‘Yeshua” or “Jesus.”  “YHWH” breaks out as follows:

“Y” represents the Hebrew word “Yod” or the Hebrew word picture for “hand.”

“H” represents the Hebrew word “Hey” which means to “reveal or behold.”

“W” represents the Hebrew word “Vav” or the Hebrew word picture for “nail.”

“H” represents the Hebrew word “Hey” which means to “reveal or behold.”

If we then translate the Paleo Hebrew tetragrammaton, it reads “Behold the Hand, Behold the Nail.”  You can clearly see the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Yeshua) spelled out in the name of God, “YHWH.”  Isn’t this amazing!  My Father YHWH always amazes me.  I know He can do anything, but the love He had for me, for us before the foundation of the world or creation, as we know it, is humbling, amazing, comforting, loving, encouraging, powerful, everlasting, and caring.  His preciseness is simply astounding.  There’s nothing the Word of God does not or cannot explain.  It’s ALL IN THE WORD!

Some Bible trivia for you.  Genesis 4:26 above tells us who the first preacher was in the earth.  It was Seth’s son, Enos.  When you see the words, “then began men to call upon the name of the LORD,” it is a reference to the preaching of God’s Word.  You’ll notice the colon after Enos’ name in the verse.  What follows the colon is an explanation of what preceded it.  Enos began to call upon the name of the LORD.  He begins to preach the Word of God.

Have a blessed Friday and weekend in Christ.

Larry
