Dear Sister and Brother in Christ,
We’re continuing our understanding of the power and authority we have over satan in Jesus Christ. The great majority of Believers have no clue about the power and authority THEY possess in Jesus Christ. And this is true because you rarely hear it preached and taught in most churches and denominations. You’ll hear the sovereignty of God preached and taught (wrongly), but you rarely hear about THE POWER we, as Believers, have in Jesus Christ and how we operate in The Kingdom of God.
I remember hearing it preached and taught that God is in control of everything and whatever His will is will come to pass. Nothing could be further from the Truth. I raised some eyebrows didn’t I. Some of you may think what I said is a heretical statement. While it is absolutely true God doesn’t answer to anyone, only to Himself, to His Word, God doesn’t control everything and His will doesn’t always come to pass. What if I told you that your mouth has MORE to do with your outcome than God does. God does have a will for your life, but He doesn’t control your thinking and your mouth. You do. And whatever you have to say either enables God to help you or binds God from helping you. Yes, I know this seems too simplistic and at odds with what you’ve been taught. I, too, was duped.
Psalm 138:2
I will worship toward Thy holy temple, and praise Thy Name for Thy lovingkindness and for Thy Truth: for Thou hast magnified Thy Word above all Thy Name.
Notice in Psalm 138:2 God has magnified His Word above all of His Names. Remember John 1:1 where we learn The Word is God. So, in essence, God answers to Himself. It tells us in Hebrews 6:13 when God was speaking to Abraham in Genesis about the blood covenant, “…because God could swear by no greater, He sware by Himself.” This establishes God is sovereign. He answers to nobody but Himself.
Who controls your outcome in life? Not God. You. How can this be?
Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
There it is in black and white. Your tongue, not God’s tongue, determines your outcome in life. I’ll give you some more verses concerning your tongue, your words, and your outcome.
Proverbs 18:20
A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
There is a physical and a Spiritual meaning to the word “belly” in Proverbs 18:20. Physically it means you will always have a satisfied or full belly in life with meat and drink. The word “belly” also stands for one’s soulish heart (remember a Believer’s heart is half Spiritual, Christ in us, the Spirit of God, and half soul, our mind, will, and intentions). Proverbs 18:21 tells us we will have the fruit of our words, whether it is words of death or Words of life. Proverbs 18:20 tells us if we speak Words of faith, God’s Word, our physical belly and our Spiritual belly will always be satisfied. Notice the second half of Proverbs 18:20 goes on to say “the more we speak God’s Word over families and ourselves, we shall not just be satisfied, we shall be filled! When The Scriptures say “filled,” it means to overflowing. When you’re overflowing, you can now be a blessing to others, which we’re called to be in Genesis 12:2-3.
I Peter 3:10
For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
I Peter 3:10 makes it clear as the ringing of a bell, if you want a great life, peace, love, joy, prosperity, health, protection, deliverance, etc., don’t speak the words of the world, which are evil words, over your family and yourself. Instead, speak The Words of God over your family and yourself. Notice the last part of this verse states, “and his lips that they speak no guile.” This means you don’t lie about yourself. In other words, you don’t go around saying you’re busted, disgusted, sick, or broke. Instead, you say what God says about you in His Word. You are a child of the Most High God, you are royalty from Heaven in this earth, you are gods in this earth (Psalm 82:6 and John 10:34 for those who are affected by the disease of religiosity), you are heirs of God, joint-heirs with Jesus Christ, and you have been commanded in Genesis 1:28 to dominate and subdue this earth by bringing The Kingdom of God to it in everything you do and everywhere you go. God has said you are mighty, you are healthy, you are wealthy, you are powerful, you are kings and priests, you have dominion, you are to occupy till He comes, your seed is mighty in the earth, wealth and riches are in your home, you are a blessing to the widow, the poor, the orphan, the ministries of Christ around the world, you are full of love, joy, and peace, etc. THIS IS WHO YOU ARE. Now start decreeing it in faith and start commanding the ministering spirits (angels) to make it so.
Psalm 39:1
(To the chief Musician, even to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David.) I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
Notice in Psalm 39:1 that David gives us a HUGE clue about spiritual warfare. “I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.” The “wicked” is satan and his demons. Just as the angels (ministering spirits; Hebrews 1:14) are waiting for us to decree God’s Word in faith so they can go carry it out (Psalm 103:20), the demons are waiting for us to speak words of evil (anything that is NOT aligned with God’s Word is evil words) so they can carry them out for us. David tells us he bridles his tongue so he will not speak words contrary to God’s Word because he knows the enemy, satan and his demons, are waiting to carry out our words of unbelief, of the world. WORDS, GOOD OR BAD, ARE POWERFUL AND SELF FULFILLING.
Proverbs 10:11
The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
We, as Believers, are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (II Corinthians 5:21). This means we are in right standing with God. Right standing inherits all God has in His Kingdom. We are not given part of The Kingdom of God when we are saved, we are given ALL THE KINGDOM OF GOD when we are saved. If we believe we are “the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus,” then our words should reflect this, and we should be known as a “well of life.” Being a “well of life” means only good and sweet waters flow from us, not sour and bitter. If we speak the words of the world, these are called “words of death” or “words of the wicked.” The Scriptures tell us a fountain cannot bring forth sweet and bitter water at the same time. It is one or the other. Which are you? Take inventory of your words each day.
Proverbs 6:2
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
Proverbs 6:2 warns us to be careful of the words we speak. Once spoken, we can be snared or trapped by our words and have things taken from us. It reminds me of The Words of Jesus in Matthew 25:29. Jesus (paraphrased by me) said, “those that have wisdom to speak Words of Life, shall keep what he has and have abundance added to him. Those that don’t have wisdom and speak the words of the world will have even that which they have taken from them.” This means you’ll always suffer lack, need, and want while speaking what The Scriptures call “words of death.” God’s children SHOULD NEVER be in this condition. However, it is by OUR MOUTH, OUR TONGUE, we are either promoted with abundance or suffer lack.
Psalm 141:3
Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
This is the Psalmist again acknowledging his words will either bring him life or death, and he is asking God to help him control his mouth, his tongue. As David said earlier, the wicked one is before me waiting for me to speak evil words, words of unbelief, words of this world. So, help me to bridle my tongue and control it.
Proverbs 8:6-9
6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
7 For my mouth shall speak Truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
The “excellent things” in verse 6, above, is The Word of God. In verse 7, the Psalmist mentions “my mouth shall speak Truth..” Again, “Truth” is The Word of God. The Psalmist goes on to say in verse 7 he will NOT speak anything other than The Word of God over his life. Verse 8 the Psalmist states “all his words are spoken in righteousness, and there is nothing of the world or of the natural in his mouth.” “Righteousness” is being in right standing with God. “Right standing” means you are entitled to the fruit of God’s righteousness: health, prosperity, protection, deliverance. We have these fruits by our decreeing and believing. And, in verse 9 the Psalmist states those Believers that understand God’s Word will understand The Words he decrees from The Word of God. Those that walk in Truth, understand Truth.
Proverbs 15:23
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
We can be absolutely assured of the outcome of our words as long as they are God’s Words decreed in faith. We can have complete assurance and joy what we’ve spoken will come to pass. In other words, IT WILL HAPPEN. The verse goes on to say “a word spoken at the appropriate time, how good is it!” This means we are to speak to our mountains, our challenges, our issues (Mark 11:23), bind it, and then loose our godly desires (Mark 11:24) to be accomplished in the earth.
Matthew 12:37
For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Who better than Jesus, God Himself, to instruct us concerning our words. Jesus tells us we’ll either be justified, “just as Jesus is,” or we’ll be condemned, “just as the world is,” by our words. Notice, Jesus said, “by thy words….” Yours and my mouth. By our mouths and the words we say we’ll either be like Jesus is or be like the world and its god, satan.
I could continue with many more verses showing that our outcome in life, on this earth, has entirely to do with the words we speak. We’ll continue on the topic of our position in Christ Jesus in future emails. We are not conquerors. This was Jesus. Romans 8:37 says “we are more than conquerors in Christ.” You don’t have to fight. The fighting is done. Jesus won the war, the fight. We are to take legal authority over that which has already been done and kick satan, the squatter, out of our lives. We are to take that which is legally and rightfully ours. Jesus paid a TREMENDOUS price for that which is given to us. Don’t offend The Father by diminishing what Jesus has done. Not taking what has been given us, and is rightfully ours, and allowing satan to squat on it diminishes what Jesus did for us. I know none of us mean to do this or want to do this. Let’s honor God our Father, and Jesus our King and Lord, by becoming warrior students of The Word of God and use it in power to “occupy till Jesus comes.”
Much love to all in Christ,
Larry
