What is Your Spiritual Aroma?

Good Morning Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Throughout the Holy Scriptures the Holy Spirit teaches us to decree “God’s Word” over our lives, the lives of our families, our businesses, our jobs, our health, our finances, etc.  We are taught to decree God’s Word over EVERYTHING in our lives and the lives of our family.  There is not one thing we shouldn’t decree God’s Word over.   What happens when we choose to speak something other than God’s Word over our lives?  Let’s look at Psalm 81:10-12.

Psalm 81:10-12

10: I am the LORD thy God that brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide and I will fill it.

11: But My people would not hearken to My voice; and Israel would none of Me.

12: So I gave them up to their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

In Psalm 81:10, God is clearly instructing us to open our mouth’s wide and be filled with His Word.  Why?  For two reasons:  to ingest The Word of God and to speak The Word of God.  If we choose not to do so, we reap the results of Psalm 81:11-12.  Let’s look at Romans 10:17 in relation to Psalm 81:10.

Romans 10:17

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by The Word of God.

Whatever our heart is constantly hearing from our mouth becomes our faith.  If we speak God’s Word over and over again, it becomes faith in our hearts.  Conversely, if we speak the wisdom of this world over and over again, it becomes faith in our heart.  Too many Believers put more value in the wisdom of this world than they do in God’s Word.  And they reap the results of it.  There may be some, or a lot of, success for the Believer in the world, but it comes with the baggage of Satan’s domain and economy.   It comes with a price.  Believers who stand on The Word of God can have their cake and eat it, too.  They can have success and the peace of God simultaneously.

Proverbs 18:21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

The Holy Spirit makes it abundantly clear through Proverbs 18:21 we are the prophets of our own lives.  Our tongue determines our present and our future.  I speak with Believers who are constantly speaking the words of the world with an occasional Word of God and then wondering why their lives are such a mess.  Or they use God’s Word but not according to God’s direction, His blueprint, and wonder why they don’t get results.  God is precise, and everything is done in order.  The Holy Scriptures are FULL of examples where Believers have right heart intentions, but wrong execution, and get no results or get poor results.  An absolute perfect example of this is in I Chronicles 13 when David wanted to move the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem.  Was this the right intention according to God’s Word?  Yes!  But rather than read God’s Word, seek God in prayer, and understand “HOW” God said to handle the Ark, David just sent men to move it on a cart.  What happened?  Uzza was killed when the Ark began to topple off the cart, and he put his hand upon the Ark to steady it.  Why?  God made it clear NO MAN was to touch the Ark.  God had specific instructions on how to handle it.  Once David got over his pouting and indignation against God for killing Uzza (hmmm, sounds like us when what we do doesn’t seem to work), David read God’s clear instructions in The Word.  David followed the instructions, and the Ark was moved to Jerusalem safely.  Words and execution matter to an Almighty and precise God.  Getting it out of order is not pleasing to Him, and you will get no results or wrong results.

There are four types of confessions, or decrees, a Believer can make over themselves, their family, and their situations:

No confession

Negative confession

Positive confession

Prophetic declaration

God says we must speak His Word. When we decree, we must speak God’s Word over our situations. Our decrees are prophetic declarations. It is fine to make positive statements, but these are words of the flesh.  The world makes positive statements.  Positive statements help in the preparation of good soil in our hearts. But it is The decreed Word of God that engages the ministering spirits (Hebrews 1:14) to act on our behalf.

Psalm 103:20

Bless the LORD, ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His Word.

Psalm 103:20 makes it very clear God’s angels do not respond to anything but God’s Word.  Psalm 1o3:20 also tells us God’s Word has a voice.  Most of us have thrown a pebble or rock into a body of water and watched the ripples extend well out into the body of water.  This is how God’s Word, decreed in faith by a Believer, works.  The decreed Word is represented by the pebble or rock.  The voice of God’s Word is the ripples that start at the present place of the decree, the point at which the pebble or rock entered the water, and extend out into the future.

We also learn from Psalm 103:20 that angels only respond to prophetic declarations decreed in faith.  They don’t respond to positive statements.

Example: positive statement – I will prosper.

Prophetic declaration – My Father God according to His will has declared me to be in divine health and prosperity even as He prospers my soul to confess and receive it. I receive it in Jesus name (III John 2).

I hope the example helps us to see the difference.  God is an orderly, precise God.  The positive statement will only be accomplished by the sheer will, wisdom, and strength of the person that spoke it.  There will be no help from God.  And the prosperity will come with the baggage of the world system attached to it.  On the other hand, the prophetic declaration of God’s Word, in faith, will be accomplished by God’s ministering spirits for us.  I love the fact God tells us the “HOW” it is going to happen is up to Him.  We’re just called to believe, decree, receive, and testify of God’s goodness.  The “HOW” is God’s business, not ours.  This is a HUGE relief.  I don’t have to worry “HOW” the seed of the decreed Word is going to grow.  I just look forward to reaping the fruit of The Word I sowed in faith.

II Corinthians 2:14

Now thanks be unto God, Which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place.

Jesus told us we would be persecuted by Satan, but He also told us through The Word we can ALWAYS triumph.  Now, are we always going to triumph?  We may not, but it doesn’t make God’s Word any less true that WE CAN ALWAYS triumph if we ALWAYS operate in Christ.  Our calling is to become Godly mature [Scriptures say “perfect”] so that we triumph more and more throughout our walk with Christ.  By triumphing more and more every year in the studying and applying of God’s Word in our lives, as the verse says, we, the Believer, will manifest, or make evident in the physical realm, the Spiritual, physical, financial, and material blessings of Jesus Christ in ours and our family’s lives.  This is the sweet “savour,” or taste or aroma, of God’s Word that attracts others to Jesus Christ.  The Father’s question to us is “What is your Spiritual aroma?”

I pray we will all learn that words matter, order matters, and outcomes matter so we will become that wonderful taste or aroma of the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ to all that will call upon Him, in every place, for salvation.

In Christ,

Larry
