Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
There are ONLY two states a man or woman can live in on this earth: saved or unsaved. And, a Believer, one that is saved, can live in only two states on this earth. Let’s examine them.
First state:
Jeremiah 17:5-6
5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
The saved or unsaved man or woman of Jeremiah 17:5-6 is operating under the curse. The unsaved is under the curse because of their unbelief and their unacceptance of Jesus Christ as the Son of God and their redeemer from eternal death and sin. The saved is under the curse, voluntarily, because of unbelief in God’s Word for that area of their life whether it be healing, finances, relationships, etc. The unsaved are not redeemed; therefore, they have no choice but to operate under the curse.
So, according to God’s Word in Jeremiah 17:5-6, why is the saved man or woman under the curse? Because rather than believing and trusting God’s Word, they trust in the wisdom of the world, in the wisdom of man. They put more value in the physical realm than the spiritual realm. Remember, Spiritual Truth supersedes physical facts – when you believe. And what is the outcome of the man or woman that trust in the world’s or man’s wisdom over God’s Word. God says they will be like the “heath in the desert.” Heath is a form of sagebrush or a dried-up plant that withers because of no nourishment and a lack of rain. God tells us this person will not notice when “good” comes. What does this mean? God is always supplying good to us (for another email) every day, but are we receiving it? God never fails to provide every day. But can you see it? If you’re in unbelief, you will not. You will miss it. By missing out on the good, your life becomes one of lack in that area of your life for which you’re not believing God’s Word. You’re living in a parched wilderness, a salt land that no one inhabits. Salt in the ground will kill plant life and sour water. Nothing will grow and no life can be sustained there. This is exactly what happens in the areas of your life for which you don’t believe God’s Word. God wants ALL OF YOU.
On the other hand, what is the state of a saved man or woman who believes the Word of God in faith?
Second state:
Jeremiah 17:7-8
7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Wow, what a difference in the two states! Blessed is the man that trust and believes God’s Word. “Blessed” means “empowered to prosper.” You’re empowered to prosper because of your belief in God’s Word. “Hope” in the Spiritual realm is “certainty” (the Hebrew translation) unlike “hope” in the natural realm which is “maybe.” The Believer that believes God’s Word shall be like a tree planted by the waters (read Psalm 1:3, you will find the same outcome there of the blessed man or woman). Notice it is not “water” but “waters.” This means there will never be lack and always abundance. “Heat” in verse 8 represents persecutions, trials, tribulations, and afflictions. God is telling us that a blessed man or woman is one that believes His Word and no matter what terrible things are happening in the world or that comes against the Believer, if they stand on God’s Word, their roots will continue to spread into the rivers, their leaf (represents the literal fleshly body of the Believer) shall be green (will maintain great vitality and youthfulness all their days), and they will have NO FEAR of a drought (economic downturn) but will prosper spiritually, physically, and materially. And everyone around them, saved and unsaved will see it and be amazed.
If you can’t figure it out – THE BELIEVER WINS ALL THE TIME IF THEY WILL BELIEVE GOD’S WORD AND ACT ON IT.
So, which state do you as a Believer want to live in? God makes it very clear how to live in the state we all want to live it – the blessed state.
Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
God spoke this to the Children of Israel. The Children are a type of today’s Believers. God, our Father, makes the path to success very clear. Choose life and blessing. When you review the Hebrew for “live,” it is not just “get by.” It is to abound. Abounding is living in the overflow of the double portion we all receive as joint-heirs with Jesus Christ, the firstborn among many.
In closing, as God says in Deuteronomy 30:19, it’s your choice how you live as a Believer. You can live a life of overflow abundance in all areas of your life or you can look like a mangy dog with patches of good hair and patches of no hair – blessing and cursing. You may have belief in God’s Word for your finances, but you may not believe God’s Word for your healing or for your protection against diseases such as COVID-19. If God is faithful in one of His promises, He must be faithful in all His promises. If God did it for Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Ruth, Ester, David, and Jesus, He MUST do it for you. Else God is a liar. And His Word tells us in Titus 1:2 and Psalm 89:34 that He cannot lie and in Acts 10:34 that He is no respecter of persons. What He does for one, HE MUST DO FOR ALL.
Walk mighty in Christ with the heart of a lamb and the attitude of a lion. Love, but challenge. Love, but stand. Love, but spread.
In Christ,
Larry
